Biggabredren hasn't come up with any new posts for a while, so with his kind permission I have decided to take over temporarily. I'm not one for words though so have instead posted some pictures from last weekend. My Brothers Left Knee

As many of you know, He's been moaning about his knee injury for 18 months now.

He did it playing football, went to physio, it got better, then it went again.

Despite many examinations, no one was able to say conclusively what damage he'd done.

He needed an MRI scan.

After being on the waiting list for an MRI scan for over a year, he finally had one in August, just before he left the UK. He then waited another 3 months for the results. The Doctor emailed him today (Mainly thanks to me for chasing the doctor up on numerous occasions since he's been away - His secretary is very nice indeed.)

The scan was, of course, inconclusive.

Brilliant.

It might be a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

When he first injured himself, back in April 2003, he went to the local hospital the next day, and the doctor who examined him told him that it might be a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Apparently, someone needs to examine his knee to check for signs of ligament damage.

So far, six different people have examined his knee to check for signs of ligament damage.

I think there may be a small communication problem in the NHS.

I wait, with great anticipation, for the seventh pair of hands to twist and pull his knee about until it really hurts. (Well, 8th if you include me...)

All he wants to do is play football again.

Perhaps he should take up tennis?

So then, I am a West Ham United fan. I love being a Hammer and I have been since I was 7 years old. It's a rocky old road mind with more downs than ups, especially since the daparture of harry redknapp who, in my eyes is something of a footballing deity. we're not worthy etc....

Anyhow - I find myself in the Championship this season, despite having been to the Division 1 play off final in May and enduring the emotional trauma and over 2 weeks of depression due to a 1 nil defeat to the "Super" Eagles Crystal Palace. We lost and yet the marketing department at Coca-Cola would have me believe that West Ham were in fact promoted - we must have been, we now play in the Championship after all!

We have succeeded in beating the mighty Rotherham and Crewe this season - well done us. In our last two games we have however failed to beat Nottingham Forest (although that was bound to happen given the sad demise of Brian Clough less than a week before) and on Radio One yesterday, they announced that "West Ham secured a draw against Derby" - I'm ever so sorry, but "securing a draw" against the likes of Derby is embarrassing and upsetting - even more so given that it was announced as though it was some kind of triumph!

Now this comment is not intended to offend Derby fans for they like me have seen better days for their team of choice and it is not their fault they support Derby - I admire them for that.

I however am a West Ham fan so that's all I really care about.

I can take solace from a couple of things in these difficult times.

1 I cannot see us getting relegated. (holding position - not massively motivational)

2 West Ham do have a genuine chance of promotion (not automatic however - don't think we've got the guts)

3 Other people who support other teams say exactly the same things that I do -
"Don't know what's going on at the club"
"We deserved to win that game but were unlucky"
"They were better than us on the day"
"We'll be back in the top flight just you wait and see"

and of course, the perennial

"I hate Man Utd!"

(unless they're playing in Europe in which case I still shout them on when they play well)

Anyhow - the point is, West Ham United, I'm forever blowing bubbles and Bobby Moore, Alan Devonshire, Alvin Martin, Billy Bonds, Frank Lampard Senior, Tony Cottee & Frank McAvennie, and even Rio Ferdinand, Paulo DiCanio and Jermaine Defoe...

It all means something - it means a lot to me...

And that is why my 10 month old daughter is also a West Ham fan..

that is until she finds something of her own that means a lot to her...

incidentally ... my brother kindly forwarded me the instructions on team blogging and despite the fact that I do feel something of a dweeb even knowing what a blog is ( cos I never did until about 3 weeks ago ) I am keen to enlist some support.

Anyone fancy it if I can get myself organised? I think it's the right thing to do and the right thing in life ain't always the easiest thing.....know what I mean?

This is rather poetic you see as yesterday in Bristol town I did spy a third of a rainbow ... it was the third that resides furthest away from the pot of gold but nonetheless reminded me of the television programme. I never realised quite how smutty rainbow was but it certainly seems to be quite smutty to me.

Now I don't approve necessarily, but I am a little disturbed that I was allowed to watch this as a child but not Grange Hill!

The trouble is you see that my little brother (who is twice the man at half the weight) has sauntered off to Singapore to be a "teacher". Rumour has it he's very good at it but then again he does teach English, and he is English so he should be able to really!

Anyhow... The point is, that I thought I would kick off the counter revolution to his site by inviting people who he has left in Bristol to talk randomly about what they're seeing and doing and eating and stuff to make the fella feel at home.

A couple of issues trouble me however:

1 I am not really an internetty type person, ... more of a cable tv, lager top type
2 I have no time to do this - my work email in box has around 140 unread messages at any one time .. (what did we do at work before email? I don't know - too young...)
3 I have a computer running windows 95 and am currently connected at 56kbps - can't wait to upload a photo!
4 I have nothing further to share apart from the fact that I have a small baby (well ... she's a biggun to be fair!)and therefore leave the house rarely and therefore am the worse person ever to "talk randomly about what they're seeing and doing and eating and stuff to make the fella feel at home"

So this is a plea in many ways - if you are from Bristol, or indeed anywhere, and you feel the need to comment on what you have seen or done recently to make my brother feel at home ... abroad then please comment on this site, or direct me towards how on earth you can get more than one person to help me with this ridiculous undertaking of setting up a counter web site...I am unprepared for the challenge, lacking as I am sustaining hot drinks of kendal mint cake .... I'm gonna try to change font now
